Checklist:

  • Preparation of a list of all machines and equipments to be examined with details of distinguishing mark, identification description, date & number of certificate relating to test and examination made, etc.
  • Original Factory Licence ;
  • A table showing the safe working loads of every kind and size of machines and equipments used in the factory.

Brief Overview

An entrepreneur, intending to take into use certain machines and equipments as detailed u/s 28, 29 and 31of the Factories Act,1948in any factory, is required to make through examination and testing of that machines and equipments by an authorised competent person at specified intervals and the reports thereof should be kept and maintained in prescribed registers for the purpose of the said Act, 1948.The machines and equipments are-
  a)  Hoists and lifts;
  b)  Lifting machines, chains, ropes and lifting tackles; and
  c)  Pressure Plant.

     (A) The Manger/ Occupier shall communicate to a competent person whose name is enlisted in the up to date list of competent persons recognised by the Chief Inspector of Factories, Assam along with the list of equipments to be examined and tested.
    (B) The Competent Person shall carry out the examination and testing of the equipments as per statutory provisions enacted in this regard and issue the certificate against each equipment so tested and examined.

Eligibility Criteria

An occupier is to ensure that-
  (A)  The machines and equipments be subjected to periodical examination and test before the expiry date.
  (B)  All the required fittings and appliance are provided and maintained and in good conditions.

  (a)  Prescribed registers (link)for report of examination/ tests signed by the competent person ;
  (b)  Details of distinguishing mark, identification description, date & number of certificate relating to test and examination made, etc.

Important Timelines

  (a)  Due date forexamination: At least 15 days before expiry of the validity period.
  (b)  Time for processing: 7 Days
